Subject: HELP: Hard Drive Problem
Message-ID: <2631541E.9748@paris.ics.uci.edu>
One of the partitions on my hard drive went screwy on me. Somehow the system
sectors (if that's what they are called) got totally canned and the partition
is not responding. I do not know if the data on the drive was damaged or not.
I try to look at the other partition sectors to see if I couldfind a way to
manually fix the hard drive. However there are descrepencies on each partition
(probably due to the different sizes of each) that I do not have the time to
decipher it all.
If I sound confused. I AM!
Can anybody help me? Is there a program which could fix the problem? Is it
possible to manually do it if one knows the right information?
I have a MegaFile 30 broken into 4 partitions:
C: 4.4 MB
D: 14.4 MB
E: 6.4 MB (This is the partition giving me a headache)
F: 6 MB
Any help will greatly be appreciated.

What's this about dumping 520STFMs? Is it possible to get one
of these for under $300? What's the best price around? Are
they still being sold thru Price Club?
Sorry for all the questions, but my vintage 520ST has, to the
best of my knowlege, breathed it's last breath. big :-(
Anybody got an old 520 console they want to get rid of cheap?
Thanks, Randy Hosler

If Apple was to open up the clone market for the mac, they would have to
start selling their System Software, instead of just distributing it.
Everyone was thrilled when Apple opened up their system to allow anonymous
ftp'ing of system software, but if Apple allowed Mac clones, they would have
to make up their money by selling the system software. I couldn't believe it
when a friend told me he had to buy the operating software for his PC
compatible, but then I realized that it only made sense. Afterall, he was
buying Microsoft's software, but someone else's computer. I like the idea of
free operating systems, I don't want to see any Mac clones.

I've a *BIG* question that I hope someone can answer.
This newsgroup is named comp.sys.amiga, right?
Then why in the HELL am I wading through all these messages
about IBM's, Macintoshes, Apple IIGS's, NeXT's, and Atari's?
#include <reminder.h>
?This newsgroup is comp.sys.amiga. If you want to talk about
some other machine, subscribe to comp.sys.[machine].?

Hello,
A little while ago, I noticed a message saying something to the effect
that the BTST bug in the Sozobon JAS assembler is easily fixable and due to a
typo in the source. Could someone please post the necessary corrections or
tell me where I can find them? I apologize if there was a reply to this that
I missed.
Also in the same vein, is there a comprehensive list of Sozobon/Dlibs
bugs anywhere via e-mail request or anonymous ftp? Thanks in advance.

Um, well, Space Ace uses the 4096 colour pallette, a game Future Travels
(or Travellers or something) does the same, a couple of new art
programs, Canvas and Paintpot use the extended pallette also. Atari's
Hyperpaint is being updated for the extended colour pallette also. (Wot
about a new Neochrome!!)
Apart from that there's the 'Official' STe demo from France. It's
supposed to use all the features of the STe. I don't know what it's like
but I'll be getting it soon. Maybe someone else has it?? (I hope its a
bit better than a 'boink' demo!)
I believe there may be stuff like a cheap Genlock and a STe specific
sound sampler coming out sooooon tooo.....

(2meg 520STe owner, ah well, your system beats mine!)
PS. I've even heard that Atari may bring out a new Control Panel sometime...
